Moritz Eggert

Moritz Eggert (known as “Eggo” on boardgamegeek) was born 1965 in Heidelberg, but he never met the Student Prince in person even though he stayed on for 10 years. His formative years were spent in Frankfurt am Main, where he was nurtured on a healthy dose of RPG’s, Eurogames and wargames, the latter playing with a mixed American and German gaming group which met at the Frankfurt army barracks. He still hasn’t decided which kind of games he likes the most, so you can basically get him to play anything, as long as it is good.

After several years spent abroad (in England, Italy, the US and France) he now lives in Munich, city of famous beers and home of his favourite soccer team, Bayern Muenchen. He is a composer and pianist by profession, and sadly there is less and less time for gaming because of that. If you’re interested in his musical activities, check out http://www.moritzeggert.de. His local gaming group is the Westparkgamers, which you can find at http://www.westpark-gamers.de . If you want to listen to his music you could watch the opening ceremony of the FIFA soccer WM in Germany, June 9, 2006, in Munich, where – between bits of awful German pop songs – there will be 750 musicians playing music by Moritz, although there will obviously be talking above it when it’s broadcast on TV. Apart of that he mostly writes operas and other pieces which are “too big”.

His favourite “classic” games are: Magic Realm, Gunslinger, Dune, Cosmic Encounter and most card-driven wargames, he also supports most good Eurogames as long as a theme is apparent.
