This
is a listing of the best board game sites on the internet, according to
me. I've ranked each site from 1 (the worst) to 10 (the best). If you know
of a site that should be here, send it to me, and I'll gladly add
it!

| BoardGameGeek |
9 |
The second best board game site on the internet.
Everything you could ever possibly want to know about games is here
- it's a massive database with a huge community. The community is
becoming a little harsh towards newcomers, however - and I'm getting
a little concerned about the quality of writing there. |
| Board Game
News |
10 |
Home of the best source of gaming news around.
Blogs, forums, and "Gone Cardboard" complete this terrific
site. The Dice Tower is being hosted there, and there are tons
of other features. Do NOT miss visiting this site! |
| The Games
Journal |
7 |
Even though the Game Journal is no longer being
updated, it still has a great archive of articles! |
| Yahugaming |

Run by my former Musings On... cohost, Jeremy Avery,
this site is perfect for people just getting into the wonderful
world of boardgaming. A Beginner's guide, "Best Games Ever", Game of
the Month, and intriguing articles are all here. |

Another "gateway" site, Eric Arneson does a tremendous
job keeping up with the latest in board game news, especially what I
would call the "mass market". And he has good Top 10 lists. |
| Spielfrieks |
7 |
Although the content of this Yahoo! list is
diminishing, thanks to BGG, it still has some good discussions.
Sadly, it's invitation only - email spiefrieks-owner@yahoogroups.com
to join. |
| The Ogre
Cave |
7 |
I'm not sure why I like this site so much, except
maybe for the tongue in cheek writing. It's dedicated to all games,
including RPGs and CCGs, but they sometimes get board game news that
no one else does. Reviews and few other articles finish up the site
- run by an entire team. |
| Great
Bits |

Want to read how board games are in the world around
us? Ward Batty keeps us updated about media articles about board
games, conventions, and game clubs. |
| Game
Central Station |
7 |
When Mark Jackson updates this page, it has a lot of
good stuff on it, including resources for games that you can't find
anywhere else, as well as the Apples project. |
| The Board Game
Designers Forum |
7 |
If you want to design your own board game, I can't
imagine going anywhere else before this site. A group of very
dedicated designers and wanna-be-designers hobnob here. |
|
GamerDad
Unplugged |
7 |
Reviews about board games (and other games, such as
video games) - centered on how well they work in a family
setting. |
| The Gaming
Report |
6 |
Good site, with a lot of info. The problem is that
they try to do too much, and therefore don't concentrate enough on
board games, in my opinion. |
| ConsimWorld |
6 |
The web changes, this site doesn't. A bunch of stodgy
grognards. Still, if you want info on wargames, and don't want to go
to BGG, then this is the place! |
|
The One
Hundred |
7 |
A group of gamers (including me) are polled and the
top 100 games, with comments, are produced. Check it
out! |
| Internet
Top 100 Games List |

Even with BGG smashing onto the scene, Aaron Fuegi
still faithfully updates his list. It has some interesting
information - check it out! |
| FFG Rants |
5 |
Sometimes this stuff is just babbling, other times it
has some interesting game design information. Either way, the word
"rants" doesn't seem to fit well. |
| Globetrotter
Games |
5 |
Sometimes this site has rules for a game that BGG
doesn't. There are also a lot of pictures here, of Essen and such
like fairs. |
| RPGnet |
5 |
This site is a GREAT site for RPG folk, but not much
board game-wise. Except, the tremendous reviews of Shannon
Appelcline |
| Game
Awards |
5 |
A nice site if you want to find out what games won
what awards. |
| The
Goblin's Lair |
5 |
Not as useful for English-speaking people, there is
still some good information on this Italian game site. |
| The Game

Peter is an excellent writer, but doesn't talk much
about games much anymore. He does have an excellent blog about TV
and such. Lets hope to see some new content here soon. Meanwhile,
you can check out backcopies of the Game Report, with some pretty
good articles. |
| Epinions |
4 |
I mention this site, not so much that you can read the
reviews there, but so that people can go there to input proper
reviews. |
| Brett &
Board |
4 |
Once the main place for information about upcoming
games, Mik has pretty much passed the torch to Rick at the
Gamewire. |
| Rec.games.board |

You know all the people who complain about
boardgamegeek being unmoderated? Just look at the mess this message
board has become and you'll see why moderation is
necessary. |

A team of bloggers, including Shannon Appelcline,
Coldfoot, Grognads, and more. Probably the best blog on the
internet right now. |
| Coldfoot |
9 |
I really do enjoy Coldfoot's style - humor
+games. |
|
Boardgames

Mark Johnson's Blog/Podcast. He knows more
about games than most people ever will. |
| Chris
Farrell |
7 |
Chris and I disagree on MANY games, but there's no
denying he's a fine, fine writer. Sadly, he seems to get a
kick out of being negative - and often puts down people who disagree
with him. |
| Musings,
Rambling, and Things Left Unsaid |
10 |
Alfred is one of the best writers on the 'net.
Great game sessions, and some deep thoughts on games. |
| aka Pastor
Guy |
8 |
A pastor who games! Can it get better than that? |
| Chris
Brooks |
9 |
Not always about games, but some great pictures of
games - and I like how he incorporates his kids into games. |
| Gaming in
Pearland |
7 |
Tremendous articles, stuff I really enjoy reading.
Miniatures, board games, and rants - all in one page. |
|
Gathering
of Engineers |
8 |
Chris Brook's gang gets together and writes a serial
blog. EXCELLENT stuff. |
| Shannon A. |
7 |
Want to find out what Shannon Appelcline thinks of a
game before he reviews it? Here you go! |
| The Game
Ranch |
7 |
Fewer posts lately (they've been busy), but the
Rosmiareks keep us entertained with some excellent posts about
games. |
| Northwoods
Games |
5 |
Mostly reviews, but they're good ones. |
|
incosequential
ruminations |
5 |
A lot more about games than most of the blogs I
read. :) |
| Nimrods |
5 |
Paragliding and board games! And sometimes some food
for thought. |
|
The Tao of
Gaming |
6 |
Brian is a little too negative for my tastes
sometimes, but there's not denying that he's a fine
writer. |
| Wag
Society |
6 |
A LOT of session reports. Sometimes rambling into
other topics, but that's what blogs are all about, right? |
| Jerusalem
Strategy Gaming Club |
7 |
Yehuda Berlinger talks about gaming in Israel, ethics,
and a variety of interesting topics. |
|
Up on
Point |
6 |
Joe Steadman's Blog - some gaming content, weird
pictures, etc. |
|
The Game

Another person who thrives on controversy, "ekted"
still writes some comprehensive articles. |
| Incunabula |
5 |
Mostly about wargames, so I'm often not
interested. |
